Head of Corporate Development

We’re growing fast and we’re looking for a talented, passionate leader to lead Corporate Development. This is a highly visible position that will report to our Chief Financial Officer and work closely with colleagues at all levels. 

 

The Head of Corporate Development will develop and lead Next’s growth strategy through the identification, assessment and execution of potential acquisitions, strategic partnerships and investments and will be responsible for all aspects of strategic acquisitions, including M&A target identification and evaluation, deal sourcing, deal execution and coordinating integration activities. 

 

The successful candidate will collaborate with executive management to develop a strategic M&A thesis and playbook and be the primary external facing leader in communicating with targets, bankers, and other stakeholders. In addition, the successful candidate will explore roll-up opportunities in the space with an eye to operationalizing roll-ups as a growth engine.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement an M&A strategy that aligns to overall corporate strategy and goals

Develop and design M&A targeting criteria and processes to review potential acquisitions

Identify and evaluate potential opportunities, which includes a robust idea generation and screening process that will bring quality acquisition and investment ideas to the executive team

Collaborate with the cross-functional leaders to establish a process for considering corporate development opportunities in a systematic way that leads to the identification of growth opportunities

Coordinate the development of organizational capabilities needed to drive successful deal execution and integration to ensure results exceed deal expectations

Support developing build, partner buy analysis for business cases, and participating in business development partnerships

Conduct financial modeling of structures, business plans and commercial arrangements

Prepare and present opportunities for review by executive management and the Board of Directors

Lead due diligence process and structuring on potential acquisitions

Lead post-merger integration of acquisitions in partnership with cross-functional teams and business leaders

Manage key external relationships including investment banks, VC’s, and advisors as part of the deal process.

Qualifications

7-10 years of demonstrated track record in corporate development, corporate strategy or strategic product roles

Proven subject matter expertise in all aspects M&A process including deal structuring, negotiation, integration planning, and execution of deals

Excellent executive presence and leadership skills to effectively work cross functionally in the organization with track record building collaborative relationships with team members (peers, staff, executives and Board of Directors)

Significant experience directing and conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses of complex data, including market and competitor analysis, customer analysis, technology assessment and financial modeling

Demonstrated experience in program management to drive projects to completion in a timely manner

Expertise working cross functionally with FP&A, accounting, product and business development and marketing functions to understand and influence business trends and incorporate this understanding corporate development priorities

Experience in software, technology, and subscription business models is highly desirable

Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
